Though WCW,spearheaded by the outsiders angle was gathering momentum and pulling ahead in the Monday night ratings,the WWF in its defence wasnt sitting idly on its hands.indeed King og the Ring yielded two results and one oine promo which were highly significant in the long run.Many expected Vader to win the King of the Ring tournamanet to prepare him for his forthcoming series with WWF champion Shawn Michaels.Instead it was Stone cold steve Austin that triumphied.he pinned wildman marc mero in a tremondeous semifinal match uo with his stone coldstunner finisher during which he suffered a hardway cut to the mouth that required stitches.as austin was reciving medical treatment in a near by hospital Jake the snake robertsd in the other semi final beat Vader by disqualification when vader pulled the referee to the canvas.livid at his exit fromthe tournament at the semi final stage vader flattend jake the snake roberts in the post match and purportedly injured Jake the Snake roberts ribs.the injury anlge was booked as a sympthaty seeking and face saving devicwe for Roberts who would lose to Austin in the final.

king of the ring was an event that is sorely missed,however after watching 1995s i may be a bit hasty in saying that,there wasnt much to get excited about on the card at all and the main event was pretty lame,the winner may have deserved it on the night but he couldnt carry the company even in the short term,
the following year is alot better,the birth of stonecold steve austin and '3.16',jake the snake was bang out of shape as he huffed and puffed his way through the night,the main event was solid also ,a three star rating is the perfect overall score.
